Fun little idea?

This is something I did last year before I started working on my feature script. I took DVD season collections of tv shows and burned them onto my hard drive. I then edited out of many many episodes and juxtaposed in an attempt to create coherent, interesting scripts. So the characters might have been doing one thing in an episode, but I used that scene and would put it in a different context in the new movie I had made up.

Anyone else ever done this? I thought it was a lot of fun. Especially for someone new to the trade, it's a way you can understand putting a story together without even having to pick up a camera or hire an actor.

Not legal to distribute these of course, but it's a cool thing to have for a private collection.
