First shoot

Did my first shoot this weekend and all went well, had a lot of fun, good laughs. Just want to thank everyone who has helped me on this forum so far.

Thanks

Loads more to shoot. it's gonna be an all summer project. Thing I learned most is communication. I am pretty good with communication but it really hit me on how important it is. Between you, the Actors and who ever else is filming with you, all must be on the same page. I am happy with the results of the weekend. But, it can be better. More experience, better results.

We re scheduled the outside shots due to weather. But all and all it was fun. Cast enjoyed them self

A slasher film, if you ever seen any Troma movies it is something like that. No Documentary style movie, just good ol' killing. Not sure what you mean by "how am I directing it" but to Answer as best as I can, I make story boards, share with the crew and go with that. Script has been changed a few times due to location issues but the story remained the same.

Sorry I should have been more specific. What I meant was is it directed documentary style like United 93, or the complete opposite, and more cinematic, like a western or James Bond, or another way entirely, etc. Just curious.

But no I have not seen any of Troma movies.

It's cool dude. And no, it's not at all in the least bit Documentary style. I would like to say cinematic but being my very first project i feel I don't have the right to say my project is Cinematic. You should check out some Troma movies, very funny stuff. one of the best ones is "Night beast" (whole thing is on youtube) Random fact guess who composed the movie?.....JJ Abrams hahaha.

Just got back from setting up a set for Sunday's shoot. I am on the Boom and my friend is on the camera. It can be tiduouse because after a take I go over audio and then Watch the clip on the camera.

FYI I am such a Boom noob countless times I was in the shot. and had to do a retake, hahaha.

Don't worry, you'll get better.

Just before blocking and rehearsing put the boom into the frame, and slowly raise up until the DP says it's out. Pick an eye-line for yourself; the mic always stays above that. Are you moving the mic from actor to actor or just aiming for the center between them?

Are you doing your workout? A part of the problem is your arms are getting tired. It happened to me!

Try to mix working out while i am at work, been so damn busy. and at the moment. I tried a couple of takes moving the Boom from person to person but i mean idk the results weren't acceptable to me. And yes Alvcoe this past sunday I was doing what you suggested and it worked out a lot my camera guy was pretty helpful.

Troma movies rock and I'm not one to think " yeah gonna send it to a film festival and this movie is gonna be a smash!!"- No,haha I don't think like that at all. But I am gonna submit this film to "Troma Dance" just for fun. gonna take a road trip to Jersey next year.
