???? “first look” clause????

What does it mean,"Furthermore writers must not have won a fellowship or writing contest that includes a “first look” clause." Not sure what a "first look" clause is. Thanks.

A "first look" clause gives a company, studio, contest, etc. the right for first refusal on a script or project.

Basically, it means they have the right to see it before anyone else and, if they choose, either refuse it or offer to purchase it. If they decide to refuse it, then you can show it to other interested parties.
