Firewire to USB

Is there any real way to hook up a 4 pin firewire AV out to a USB port. Some of the reviews I've been reading make it sound like the USB firewires are scams that don't work. I have a samsung chronos 7 that has USB 3.0. and want to hook it up to my camera that has a 4 pin AV in/out. Can it be done?

There is no such thing as a IEEE1394 Firewire to USB convertor. They are very distinct data protocols that cannot be translated.

I was excited once by a USB2.0/FIREWIRE hub thinking it would universal. FIREWIRE only works with FIREWIRE and USB only with USB.
