Filming In Bali

I will be shooting throughout Indonesia (mainly Bali) this year and was wondering if any of you guys have had any experience shooting over there? There are a few companies such as balifilm.com which may be helpful. Hoping to find local sound and assistants ect for surf film.

Any feedback appreciated

Living there now. I mainly mind my own business, editing etc. I work on my own or with a couple of friends, informally. I have a few numbers of reliable studios.

It's a pretty open culture and you can find what you like. Maybe try Denpasar university. If I can help, please let me know.

It's been quite difficult trying to organize this trip so far. None of the Bali film sites I've contacted have been that helpful. I'm in the process of getting my permit to film in Bali now. Last visit I took a very small amount of equip with me ( mainly carry on) and had the worst time with customs. I had to leave my gear at the airport for a month with the customs or pay $3000 u.s deposit. I ended up leaving it at airport and luckily still their on departure. So this time I want to make sure everything will run smooth. What I'm wondering is with my permit will I be able to travel the whole island shooting? I know I'll need extra permits to access temples and private property ect but do you think I will be left alone say shooting main street kuta? I've spent alot of time in Indo and I can see the polisi giving me a hard time and me handing over too many blue notes. I have a local driver who will be with me most of the time but I think I'll need someone with experience in dealing with authorities to help keep my money and gear safe as well as a few locals to help carry my gear. I'll be travelling with quite alot of gear this time.
Where in Bali you living anyway positive future? Sorry for late reply.
