If you’ve ever had to edit anything, and i’ll assume most of the people reading this have; you know how much easier it is when the slate is called correctly. Not only does it save time on set, but as well time and fustration in post.

You only need to call 3 main things: Scene, shot, and take. Now the only tricky part is using correct phonetics for any letters used.

Using Phonetics

“Scene 1 Apple, take 1″ – Scene 1, shot A, take 1.

“Scene 1 Apple Apple, take 1″ – Scene 1A, shot A, take 1.

Below are some of the more commonly used phonetics for each letter:

A Alpha, Apple
B Bravo, Baker
C Charlie
D Delta
E Echo
F Foxtrot​
