film festival before crowdfunding campaign

Hi guys, as some of you probably know i am planning a documentary (finger crossed for this summer!) i would like to launch a crowdfunding campaign to repay at the least the upfront costs for the production. I was also thinking about submitting the documentary to some festivals (just for the sake of it and see if i get some feedback). I thought about a question which maybe some of you can answer to:

Are film festivals a good way to attract potential backers?

The film is projected at film festival X and then the idea is "you saw the movie but i need your help for an online/dvd release", do you think it would work as a kind of advertisement for the campaign?

Are there festival rules that prohibit this kind of things?

Thank you :)

Attracting? Possibly. Meeting, it can be. I'd assume it would depends on the festival.

As for your other question, I don't get what you're asking. Who are you asking?

Are there festival rules that prohibit this kind of things?

Each festival has its own rules.

Thank you for the answer sweetie, my questions were directed to anyone who had an idea whether festival can boost the popularity of a crowdfunding campaign or not. Anyone who had my same idea?
