We are festival directors and have had experience with online screeners (although we no longer accept them for our festival). Your online screener should be just like your DVD.
Do NOT add color bars or tone. Start with your video. If your film is accepted into the
festival, you will probably be asked to send a regular DVD as your exhibition copy.
As for press kits, many (if not most) festivals use withoutabox, (we do) and for publicity materials/press kits we use whatever you have uploaded to your withoutabox press kit.
That would be a poster (or still from the film), and possibly a trailer. Most festivals will not
use behind-the-scenes shorts. I would suggest NOT sending hard-copy promo materials
through the mail, such as photos or posters. If your film is accepted into the festival and
they need something extra from you, it can probably be emailed to them. (Such as a photo
or poster). If they want handout stuff like comp cards, they'll ask for it.
