editing FCE to FCP Transfer (Quality Issue?)

Hey! So I just transferred the project that I'm working on from FCE to FCP, and the image quality looks noticeably worse in Pro.

Now, I'm assuming that this is because FCP is displaying the footage more loyally - I shot the project with a cannon GL1 so we're not talking high-quality image to begin with - bUut, it did appear degrade enough that I wanted to see if anyone knew if there are potential problems when transferring/upgrading projects to FCP?

Also, just for extra info, the way that the image quality looks worse is that it appears a lot noisier... Like, what it looks like to me is if I had brightened the midlevels/highlights of every shot without taking the shadows down... whereas on express the image was darker and more contrast-y but not as noisy.
