ok i was wondering whatthe main content is in a fantasy film and some stars that are normaly in fantasy films

example of what i mean the content of a action film would be fighting shooting ect and stars would be Bruce LeeSteven SeagalArnold Schwarzenegger ect

P.S this is for my college work and i have been doing about filma genre content and cant find anything about fantasy films

I would say that as a rule the theme that "Magic is real" is one of the defining features of the genre... so you could then also list X-Men, Push, Jumper as examples as well.

My general rule of thumb (which I got somewhere else a long time ago) about fantasy & sci-fi films is that it isn't true to the form if one can pull the fiction magic/technology out of the movie and the story still holds.

Like you can't have a "Train the Dragon" movie without a dragon, there are things the dragon can do like fly or breath fire that a dog or horse can't.

Another example, space ship, sure you could flip it for a pirate ship on the high seas, but it would be hard to do.

In Fantasy magic is often entwined with nature:
The enchanted forest, haunted mountain, some messed up river and so on.

Magic is also held in weapons:
The arrow, the sword, the dagger.

Magic is also held in jewelry:
The ring, the amulet, the stone.

Sometimes as an extension of natural elements magic is mixed with jewelry and weapons:
The golden arrow, the jeweled dagger and so on.

All kinds of nature is often included and can be magical:
Trees, flowers, animals.

In fantasy there are often monsters.
In some fantasy monsters might be seen as the abomination of nature.


I don’t watch much fantasy, so I don’t know the actors most synonymous with it.
