F/G and B/G focus

Hi,

I have Canon T3i. I would be thankful if you let me know the setting for keeping both foreground and background in focus at one time. I have 18-55mm and 50mm lens.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Regards,

Riz

You need to shoot with a smaller aperture (larger f-stop number). A wide-open aperture lets in a lot of light, but also gives you a very shallow depth-of-field. Stopping the aperture down will let you keep more of the scene in focus. You also might want to consider shooting at a wider angle, as DOF becomes more pronounced the more zoomed-in you are.

I also highly recommend learning the basics of photography, as this explains the effects of aperture and all the other settings that go into creating an exposure.

More light in your scene as you'll be closing your aperture as well. It won't work in a dark environment at all. Keep the lens closer to the 18mm end of the zoom as the blurry background will be less pronounced at that zoom level too.
