Escape from Tomorrow: Guerrilla Filmmaking @ Disneyland

The poster on IMDB looks awesome.

The trailer's got nothing identifiable in it, though. :/

Will definitely watch this, even if just to see how great stolen shots can turn out.

I imagine a chunk of the film budget is described as "Disney - Annual Passes x 30"

It's interesting that someone would put that kind of time, effort and money into a project that has two strikes against it before it even reaches the plate! Most of us try to toe the line as much as possible...then still can't get distribution.

You can't discount the publicity factor, though. If the director was just trying to get himself in the spotlight, he evidently succeeded. Hey, it worked for Todd Haynes with this film.

It could very well be the case that he knew it would never see the light of day, but that he had a story he wanted to tell, and he saw the possibility of other benefits, even without distribution. That is a sentiment I completely understand. :)

Is there not a chance that, with the overwhelming weight of critical/public/internet support for the film, that Disney could retrospectively grant permission and clear the way for distribution?

I think it's worth remembering that Disney is a PR machine and that a move that is deemed generous and magnanimous could add to their popular appeal, especially amongst serious film fans. Also, they will get literally nothing out of blocking it, so if I were in charge of the company, I'd take the positive press.
