Effective Funding Method

Thought I'd share how I fund my movies.

I am a partner with YouTube. If you don't already know, being a partner with youtube means you have ads on your videos and get paid for the clicks on the ads. If you make short films, or even features, you can upload them to youtube in parts and when the views start flowing in just apply for a partnership at http://www.youtube.com/partners

My CPM (cost per thousand impressions) is around $1.50, so for every 1k views I get I receive $1.50, and typically I get anywhere from 25k to 45k views a day depending on the day of the week (weekends typically get more views).

Anyway, this method is quite effective for me because I can rake in over $1k a month usually, and I'm only 15. I'm sure you guys could make better videos than I, and would probably get more views.

I have to YouTube accts. links below, and this is just for proof.

Nice! over a grand a month is nothing to sneeze at! That's enough for a struggling filmmaker like myself to survive!

Thanks man, but I wouldn't call you a struggling filmmaker!! haha i saw your behind the scenes pictures on facebook and it looks like you got things sorted out, makeup artists, sound ops, lights, a professional production crew.

plus you had the RED!!

Congrats on being partner! I think (hope) when I start making watchable videos and they get good views, I'll apply for partner. How does ad sense work? Does it transfer money into a bank account?

I'm a partner too, but my viewership is much lower.

Care to share how you grew to 25k+ views per day?

Thanks!

Well, not sure if you clicked the links in the post, but if you do you can see that I have a channel with Nerf videos and another with Airsoft/ war videos. I started my Nerf channel a few years ago and at that time I was like the only person that made scripted nerf wars and put them on YouTube, so my videos got a lot of views and today they continue to grow, then as I moved onto airsoft guns I made a new youtube account, and I advertised my new account on my old account and thats how my airsoft videos got views. I use annotations to link videos together so they can get views. Right now my airsoft videos only get 3k views a day, my nerf videos are the ones raking in the views.

If you have any questtions feel free

Haha! Great friends and connections do not equal lots of money, TRUST me. =D

I'd love to get on a partnership with YouTube!

Once your account balance on adsense reaches over $100 they transfer the money to your bank account at the end of the following month

I have a youtube account and a video (just one) hitting bigish views, nothing like what you're seeing. I want to make the money you're making (that's almost a house payment for me). I'm not sure that our dramatic efforts will draw the same amount of audience that will seek out nerf war/ airsoft war types of films. Those numbers really only work on specific target audience types of fare. I wish my films could reach those numbers, but I don't think there's a large enough audience for what I want to make on youtube.

Seems like maybe the play here is to find an underserved niche like 'nerf wars' where you could produce videos that get those kinds of views, then use the proceeds to fund the less popular dramatic films - as well as possibly bringing in views via cross promotion.
