Documentary legal stuff

I've got a few questions that you documentarists might be able to help me out with. After years of doing short films, I'm filming my first documentary with a grant from a GLBT organization. It's on the subject of GLBT people with intellectual disabilities.

I have done enough research to know that I need release forms from anyone who speaks on camera or is interviewed, but I'm wondering about crowd scenes and public places. I believe the law says that I can film public events without obtaining release forms from the countless people that appear in the crowd at a public event. My camera's not going to be concealed or anything, so that shouldn't be a problem. But I've heard about "sensitive locations" requiring different standards - do gay events count? I'm planning on shooting at San Francisco Pride this June. Could someone filmed in a crowd sue me for outing them?
