Do I need insurance for a web travel show?

It depends.

Are you going to be shooting in locations that require you to have insurance? Then yes.

Are you paying your cast & crew? In that case you are an employer and probably required by law to carry some form of insurance (liability & workers compensation most likely)

I'm sure there are other scenarios that would also dictate a necessity for insurance.

So, do you need it? Not always.. Should you get it? Judging solely by your vague description of the show, it sounds like there is potential that cast & crew could run into dangerous situations, so it would probably be a good idea to have it.

But, based on the information you've provided thus far, there's no way to answer this question really. Also, I'm not a lawyer and don't know of any lawyers on this site, so it'd behoove you to discuss this with someone who is able to provide legal advice.. :)

Are you getting permits and renting equipment? Yes. To get a permit you need insurance, to rent high-end equipment you need insurance. In most cases.

Nobody will get paid unless we get paid but it will be a group of maybe 5 people. The producer, camera guy, and two hosts. The show will basicly showcase what there is to do in our local area as far as adverture travel is concerned. We will do things like hiking, horseback riding, fishing, skydiving, hang gliding, water skiing, etc. we are all friends and everyone understands that there is a next to nothing budget. I guess I am more concerned with legaly being able to shoot. Also, if we end up trying to sell to a bradcaster do we need to show proof of insurance? We own all the equipment and I wasn't planning on getting any permits because it is for the web.

Thanks for all the help guys..
