Do I have to worry about the law when it comes to these types of lights?

Apparently it's a FEDERAL law now, meaning all over the country. I was going to shoot parts of movie in B.C. though, with 1000 watt lights at night. In B.C. they passed this law too. Will I be doing anything illegal by doing so, or does it not count for movie shooting, etc?

Interesting, I guess I'd never thought about the impact of these laws for what I assumed were home use lights on what I do. I'm not sure how that affects other tungsten based bulbs such as photofloods.

Retailers can still sell existing stock until they run out.

It is not illegal to use them.

Okay so it's not illegal to use them, but stores will not have them anymore, is that right? Will DPs still have them, for years to come? It says they are not allowed to be imported either.

I think you'll find that this is for general house use lights.

Eh, film lights don't use household bulbs..?

And even in practicals, I generally like them a bit warmer, so halogen's 2700k colour temp tends to sit pretty nicely. I don't see this being any issue really.

Okey don't get me wrong but many of you are making very shitty videos that are barely watchable ( including me ) and you guys worry about laws and all that when nobody cares about your video .

First shoot good films then worry about laws that nobody cares about.
