diy snoot

Hi everyone,

I'm looking at how to make a DIY snoot for a film shoot as I don't have access to one or the money to rent one (it's a student project).

All the ones I can find talk about using cardboard/foam etc. to make one but I'm thinking that will just go up in flames after being attached to anything for a period of time.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Go to Amazon and search for Cinefoil. It's not zero-cost but much cheaper than a snoot and reusable (for so many things) if treated with care.

As you're in the UK, B&H may not be your best bet. I'm in France and ordered my Cinefoil from a retailer in Germany: http://www.thomann.de/

I have a traffic cone painted flat black on the outside and "chrome" on the inside. Use flexible plastic paint and cut the end of the cone to the appropriate size. The square base makes it fairly easy to rig up a stand.

I'll also say cinefoil. Other materials may melt/ burst into flame depending on the type of fixtures you're using.
