One of the coolest and most filmmaker-friendly festivals I've ever attended has announced their call for entries with a FREE early-bird deadline of September 15th. The Detroit Independent Film Festival will take place March 9-13, 2011. Last year's inaugural fest featured a pre-premiere screening of George Romero's "Survival of The Dead" and had Lloyd Kaufman of Troma Entertainment in attendance. But the most stunning aspect of my experience was the connections I got to make with other filmmakers after the screenings. It was great...just a bunch of directors, writers, etc. chatting with each other about the process and the art in the basement gym of an ancient Detroit Public Schools elementary school that has been converted into a theatre to showcase movies made by PEOPLE LIKE US.
I've attached an entry form if you're interested.
