editing Delaying sound 1 frame?

I replaced all dialog and sound for my feature. I thought lined up the sound pretty good with the video. Maybe it's my imagination or maybe something in the playback is causing this, but after rendering video it looks like the sound is rushing a little bit. Can you shift the sound back a frame? Is that ever considered acceptable to the brain? Is there an editor's "rule of thumb" for this? Like maybe in some circumstances it's OK to move the sound back a frame?

Check all of your conversion settings, both import and export - especially the audio. That's one place your problem could be.

Also check the delay compensation settings on your DAW (which compensates for plug-inm processing delays).
