Crowdfunding

I notice theres a fair amount of talk about Indiegogo on these forums.
I'd like to make a blatant plug for an alternative site that we've just launched in the UK called Crowdfunder - http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk
Although based in the UK we're open for projects from anyone, anywhere and on almost any topic.

We'd certainly welcome any indietalk members who like to give us a try.

You've done a really good job on the site. It's actually more like Kickstarter than IndieGoGo I think.

Other than the fact that you're based in the UK (which I love :D ) what's your USP? I can't quite see the point of using a site that seems to do exactly the same thing as Kickstarter and IndieGoGo but which has thousands less potential investors...?

Thanks Nick - always happy with a comparison to Kickstarter ;)

Well everyone's got to start somewhere :)
Other than the UK aspect (which is important for UK people like yourself) there are a few, admittedly small, differences:
- unlike kickstarter, we're not limited to the US
- unlike IG we do vet pitches so that the general standard of pitches is higher
- unlike IG we only allow projects to get their money if they hit their target - we think this is important as people invest their cash based on what the project owner claims they can achieve with the money they are asking for

Hopefully, there is room for us all :)

This is the main reason I compared you to Kickstarter. It's a pretty fundamental point of crowd funding.

I didn't see that you vet pitches. That's an interesting idea- though perhaps not a crowd pleaser. Perhaps you should make quality control your USP- 'Crowdfunder: Where the Best Ideas Take Off...' or whatever.

I hope there's room for you as well, but it's good to try and carve a niche, especially in a marketplace which already looks quite crowded.

Best of luck, though.

The site looks beautiful , I must say.

Although, you'll see on past threads upon the subject of "Crowdfunding" that i'll have offered what i can in means of advice, or structured critique. Never i believe, to the initial creation of the method.

I do hope those seeking funding push hard, and make the maximum effort towards their desired targets. It's a too-familiar sight of the "Extinguishing flame". What you're doing deserves no less.

I have bookmarked, and cataloged your site for future reference.

The very best of luck.
