Hi all,
Well, I've got my mac and MiniDV camera. I can get the material into the Mac, edited and burned to a DVD. I know most film festivals take pre-view copies through 'Withoutabox". What format do they require a film if accepted in the festival? I get the impression its MiniDV. If so, how on Earth would I get the finished product back into MiniDV format?

They usually have which formats they accept on their website or rules page.

Most of the ones I found asked for MiniDV. Any idea how to copy to MiniDV from Computers?

I've honestly never had to do that, the last one I entered this was the rule:

...your film must be submitted on one of the following media:

(preferred) a self-contained, SD, Quicktime file with no proprietary codecs on either:
- a data DVD, or
- a USB flash drive
- miniDV
- DVD

I'll do more digging at the festival sites. DVD or USB would be perfect.

Yea, usually they will have at least 2 or 3 different ways to submit your film. Dvd is probably the most simple and cost effective. If you use a USB drive, you probably will not be getting it back.
