Coming Soon

What's coming, in development or production, or soon to be released that you're excited about, want to see, or are interested in? And why? And what's the deal?

For example, looks like we've got a nice crop coming up this season.

Here are just two that have my interest.

My niece was telling us how good the book is. Directed by Brian Percival. Doesn't look like he has much experience in the way of feature films. But Downton Abbey was nicely done. Michael Patroni did the adaptation. Hmmm, I wasn't to thrilled with the adaptation of Queen of the Damned. But maybe that was the fault of others. Anyway, the trailer piques my interest. Doesn't the girl remind you of Drew Barrymore?

Looks fun, moving, inspiring. Possibly.

What do you folks think of 47 Ronin? Gonna be really cool, or just expensive eye candy?

This looks awesome. The Coen Brothers always nail it.

This looks like a really neat sci-fi:

I'm actually really excited about Walter Mitty. I love Ben Stiller.

I also can't wait for next year when Interstellar comes out. I'm a sucker for Christopher Nolan.

The Book Thief was such a good book. I've been looking forward to that movie for a while. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty trailer was great, so now I really want to see that. And Inside Llewyn Davis.

What do you folks think of 47 Ronin?
It looks like expensive eye candy to me.
Does anyone else think Out of the Furnace will be good?

Besides having another "Star Wars" and "Jurassic Park" coming in the not too distant future, these are the ones i'm really looking forward to after skimming the 'coming soon' section on imdb;

Inside LLewyn Davis - Joel/Ethan Coen. 'Nuff said.

The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug - The first film didn't blow me away, but watching the trailer for this got me really excited for the follow-up.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty - I remember this being floated as a possible Spielberg/Jim Carrey project back in the day, but it looks like Ben Stiller's version is going to be good. Cool trailer.

The Wolf of Wall Street - Haven't even seen the trailer for this yet, but, you know, Scorsese.

The Monuments Men - Great cast, interesting sounding story, and Clooney is one talented dude.

Godzilla - Cool, there making another Godzilla. With Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe and a screenplay cowritten by Frank Darabont.

But really the film I'm hanging out for is this bad boy;

It's kind of a big deal.

Catching Fire.

I became a fan of the books just after development began on the first, though I initially didn't know there was going to be a film until I was halfway through the book.

The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug

I'm actually pretty keen to see 48fps again

TinTin film 2. This unfortunately isn't in the near future but I am watching out for it's development. Assuming they stick with Prisoners of the Sun as the currently working title suggests then I'll be pretty happy, that's one of my favourite comics, and the screenwriter is one of my favourite authors of the Alex Rider book series (Anthony Horowitz)

Oh my, they're going to make an American Gods series.

No, I can't believe it's going to be the new Game of Thrones, because Game of Thrones is awesome pie. But still, could be cool.

Warning: language n mature content. Oh, that's not the one we saw at the theater today. Oh my. Maybe I'll try to find that one too.

This looks really fun.

I know someone whose id starts with a "C" and ends with a "K" must have wet himself when he saw that trailer. :P I didn't love the first one, but it was interesting. I must admit that Caesar with his war paint face on looks pretty cool in this trailer. Not to mention, the soundtrack is really effective, isn't it?

Well. Okay. That certainly goes on the to-see list. Looks potentially very interesting. Heir to Kubrick is the sort of thing we want to hear, right? Sexy Beast is a pretty outstanding film. Maybe didn't get as much attention as it deserves. I haven't seen Birth. I think I better look it up.
