So I'm pretty new to actual filmmaking, I've been writing scripts for a while but I've no experience whatsoever with hands-on camera handling etc.

I've bought a Sony PD-150 a month ago and I'm quite happy with it so far, although I've not used it to its potential as of now. I'm putting together the stuff I need to get started and was looking at what seems to be a good piece of equipment, the CobraCrane SteadyTracker Xtreme. Anyone used it? Can it be used as a good enough monopod?
