editing Cineform/neoscene

I have seen this name pop up...I am trying to obsorb different things...

I looked it up online and am not quite sure what it is and what is it suppose to do.

Is it something you can solely use for editing or is it something you use with your editing software?

Thanks.

It is a CODEC, Compressor/Decompressor. You use it with your editing software to make the more complex formats (DVCPRO HD/HDV/AVCHD etc.) less complex, and easier to edit with.

Thanks guys.

Uranium City, I know you have suggested that before to me...I don't want to just invest in all these things without knowing what I am doing from the begining...

Having wrote that...I am sort of maybe getting better at the editing bit, meaning I am figuring out what is where and so on..
Do you just purchase it and download it...easy to use ? - for someone like me?

I want things to work smoothly but am NOT computor literate (as you already figured out I am sure).

Merci.

Yep, you pay and download right from them. You can even download a full-feature trial version for a week for free and see if it helps.

Their customer service is top notch...I once ran into a problem and wrote a trouble e-mail to them at 9:00PM on a Friday night. Got a response back 20 minutes later.

Very easy to use...follow their tutorials.

I downloaded it last night.. (the trail) nothing. I am sure I have done something wrong.

I went through the stages: hit 'save'.
When done I saw it was under 'documents' then under 'downloads'. When I tried to open it up nothing was there.

What did I do wrong?

Also, after I download it (assuming I can)..does it automatically do something with the footage I have when I work on Sony or do I have to move it? I am not to sure how it works...

Thanks.
