editing Choppy Preview in Editor

For FCP7 I transcoded my h.264 files into apple prores422 via "compressor"
It's a big improvement but the playback is still quite poor!

On the left: Perfect preview. Typical file from my DP and his camera.
On the right: Choppy preview. Files I transcoded from my camera.

Any thoughts on what I did wrong here?

Solution

My FCP sequence settings were originally matched to h.264.
Just switching to ProRes was not enough to fix the choppy playback, I had to alter the sequence settings to match the new footage.
