I'm producing a short film with a very, very small, shoestring budget of $2,500. It looks as if we're not going to go far over that amount. However, I really want to buy an insurance policy (not budgeted for) that at least covers liability and preferably also includes property and rental equipment coverage. I've been talking to a few brokers but, so far, all the quotes I've received are above $1,000 for this one project. (Four shooting days early in May.)
Workers comp is supposed to be included since, I was told, New York State requires it.
Are there any avenues I may be missing where I can find such insurance for much less?
