Changing canvas size in FCP

For some reason, my canvas (to the top right) is not displaying 16:9 like my other files. There are black frames on the top and bottom of the video and the width is shortened. Does anyone know how I can widen it to 16:9?

Try this:
There is a button that gives percentages on your canvas display. Click on it and click 'fit to window'

If that is what you mean, that should do it.
