Cash Cash Money...basically!

Fellow Geniuses..

Hi there.

Would anyone happen to know, or have experience or knowledge as to how to raise enough money to go to SAE film school.

The fees are about £10,000 a year! **Sigh, but, the centre is excellent and is second only to Metfilmschool in Ealing for equipment, locations and contacts.

I am from a working class family and am capable both academically and practically, with good grades and round experience. I am 22 and have been accepted to state university to start in September 09 to study a BA in Film and Production.

SAE offers a 2 year BA in Film, which thrashes what the state uni's do in modules and experience you would gain.

It saddens me the only reasons i cannot go is down the money and am seeking advice as to how to afford to fund myself to give myself a chance of going..

I am currently applying for a career development loan through the banks, but if anyone has any sound advice, websites or links, I could use all the help I can get!

Sincerely

Jake Smith!

I believe you can learn as much and probably more on your own than an expensive film school. Maybe some won't agree with me. Experience is the best teacher. There is a wealth of knowledge out there for filmmakers, this site is just one example. Get your camera and start shooting and learning. "Just Do It". I'm enrolled in Hardknock University and have been a student there for a long time. I learn new things all the time.

“Perhaps it sounds ridiculous, but the best thing that young filmmakers should do is to get hold of a camera and some film and make a movie of any kind at all.” -Stanley Kubrick

I managed some filmmaking courses in Rockport Maine at the Main Media Workshops. Prior to teaching, I was a student. Do a web search and find out if they still offer the 7week workstudy. You'll make movies all week with great instructors.
