Canon Gl2 or Xl1

Hello all, I've been looking at purchasing a new cam lately and my price range dictates that I can spend anywhere up to 2 grand. The canon gl2 and Xl1 seem to be ideal, but I was wondering which one I should pick or if there are any other cameras out there that are better in that price range. Thanks.

i have a canon Gl2, my friend has an XL1. It seems i get more done with my GL2, you can check out videos i've made like "the sky is blue" and "senior Video Trailer" in other posts, where i mostly used my canon GL2. After color correction and sky replacement of course.
