Canon 600D + Sigma 10-20mm Wide Angle Lens

I got one Canon 600D and a Sigma 10-20mm wide angle lens. I used it for video shooting most of the time. And I found that sometimes it looks nice, and sometimes it's not. One of the main problem is not shallow depth when doing close up, and need to move to very near the subject.

Should I sell away this lens and get another more decent one? If I do so which lens is more likely worth to buy? Or I should just buy more lenses?

So please give me some advice on this. Thanks.

More lenses. All you have is a wide angle, which even open as far as it will go is going to have deep DOF. Smaller apertures (at least 2.8, maybe even 2 or less) and longer lenses (say an 85 or so) will get you closer to what you're looking for.
