Canon 500d or Sony HVR A1E

I'm making a short and I don't know which camera would be better to film with. Which has better video quality and will be easier to achieve the "film" look?

As far as I'm aware the 500D doesn't shoot HD video, so I would rule it out on the basis of that. I've never used the Sony HVR cameras but they look fairly neat.

I would consider looking at the 550D (perhaps that's what you meant by 500D?)...

No not the 550d i meant the 500d, i only have the 500d available to me unfortunately. BTW sound isn't an issue for me since this film will only have music and narration, it's really jusy about video quality.

I know the 500d can shoot 24fps at 720p, which is what ill be doing, but whats this about it only shooting a few minutes at a time and overheating??
