Can a screenwriter get paid if this happens?

I've posted some of my screenplays on various review sites and one of the things I was told over and over again is that they read more like video games... This made me have a few questions: If someone sells a script that gets made into a movie and then someone wants to make a video game based on it, will the writer get any money for this? Could the screenwriter also write for the video game? Thank you for taking your time to read and answer this!

When you say they read like a videogame I have to think about someone on a quest needing to collect some things to defeat the enemy.
That doesn't always work for movies, but it is a normal scenario for games

It depends completely on what's in the contract that you sign when you sell the script in the first place.

A classic example of this is Sucker Punch, btw. Literally "collect five items, and return to me". Objectively, it's a terrible film... but it's still awesome. :v
