Camera for Documentary.

Have you dived into DSLR territory yet? What is your budget? Are you in the T2i budget range, or C100 range?
I recommend the T3i if you're willing to dive into DSLR territory. Although the extra accessory costs are essential to add up as they usually cost more than the camera body itself. The GH2 and GH3 are solid, solid cameras as well. If you're not willing to, the XL-H1 is a great camcorder with decent image quality and features.
you could always rent, but since you didnt mention budget i thought id throw in a practical and wonderful camera...

Don't know what you're trying to do. If it is talking heads then any Canon will do. However for run and gun you want a camcorder. 'Pure' DSLRs are too shaky and camcorders offer a better form factor meaning you can film while walking and be relatively stable. They are made for this rather than DSLRs which are terrible for run and gun action.
A used VG10 will set you back a thousand dollars and you will be ready to go. A used DSLR will cost less but then you need to buy a shoulder rig otherwise it will have that Parkinson's look about it.
