Agreed. When pricing out cases for our multi-thousand dollar cameras, you have to ask yourself "How much is my camera worth?" If you cherish it, you'll spend some cash buying the metal foam padded case like CootDog suggests.
...I have a Panasonic DVX100a and considering the investment a camera like that costs, my advice would be to purchase the hard case that you can get for the camera. Mine cost about $300, however, if it protects my camera, which cost much more than $300, it is worth it. The last thing you want is to have your camera damaged because the case was not what it could have been....
...my advice: suck it up and buy the hard case... it'll only hurt for a minute...
