Book recommendations?

I'd like to know what are the must read "how to direct" guides for an aspiring writer/director (preferably in e-book form). So far I have: save the cat, the quick and dirty guide to DIY moviemaking, screenplay, and the DSLR cinematography guide.

Thanks in advance:)

The most overlooked aspect of filmmaking by most filmmakers is sound-for-picture. So my recommendations would be:

Sound Design: The Expressive Power of Music, Voice and Sound Effects in Cinema - David Sonnenschein

The Foley Grail - Vanessa Theme Ament

The Sound Effects Bible - Ric Viers

Dialogue Editing for Motion Pictures - John Purcell

The Sonnenschein book is the place to start. If you are going to DIY your audio then the other three are must haves.

When it comes to directing Actors, I found DIRECTING ACTORS (by Judith Weston) and excellent read. I took her workshop several years ago. It was expensive, but well worth it. Judith only deals with the Actor/Director relationship, and you spend the workshop either as a Director, or an Actor (being directed). It was an educational, exhilarating & humbling experience.
