Big Time Space Saver

Just in case you care, don't know this, or are running low on space. This is for Final Cut Pro.

You have 20 files that comprise a scene. A little from here and a little from there. The scene lasts about 2 minutes long and you have 20gigs worth of space taken up for this scene.

You can seriously decrease the amount of space used by doing the following:

Click FILE
Click MEDIA MANAGER
It will show you a summary of Original to Modified.
DELETE unused media.
Use HANDLES (in case you want to adjust a few frames)
DUPLICATE into a NEW PROJECT.

There are quite a few choices. I'm honestly not sure of what the best choices are. But, I did it as it is above, and it worked perfectly.

I'm looking at a 3.5 minute scene that is a 14.5 gb project. When I'm done it will be a 1.7 gb project and I won't lose a bit of quality.

**IMPORTANT** Just because you did this, does NOT MEAN to dump your FULL ORIGINAL FILES. You never know if you'll need them. Always SAVE originals.

Adobe has a similar function, called Project Manager.

You can create a new project (to use or archive) that only includes the media that was actually used in a timeline. (with handles, as above)
