I have to ask... why 54fps? Why not an even 48 or 72 (multiples of 24 which makes shutter speed easier to calculate)?
And as for film, technically all film can handle overcranking or under, but it has more to do with your lighting situation, because the higher or lower you go with your frame rate, you'll need to adjust your shutter speed so you don't get motion blur. If you shot at 48fps, you could probably shoot with 1/48 and not have to change anything, but every time you adjust beyond that you will lose some light.
So to answer your question, if its a dark scene you will need the fastest film you can get. If its bright, you could use almost anything, but the more you overcrank, the faster the speed will need to be.
