I'm getting a really annoying barrel flare/vignette thing on this footage I shot at night w/ a torch. Check it out here. Can anybody tell me what's happening here? I am using a Canon 6D w/ an EF 28-135mm at f/3.5. It looks to me like the fire is actually illuminating the inside of the barrel, causing some weird vignetting. Does anybody have any idea how to avoid this? We'll pretty much have to use this footage as we can't get our actresses out there again, but I'd like to know how to avoid it in the future.

You might have better luck if you stopped referring to people as "gearheads" 
It looks to me as if the lens being used doesn't really properly cover the sensor. It's difficult to tell since the frame is so dark, but it looks like those edge may otherwise be rather soft, and outside of the optimal image area projected by the lens.
