Attaching a mic on a camcorder?

Hey all, I just bought a Canon HF R10 and a RODE VideoMic and I was wondering
if there was an attachment or something that I could pick up. I was looking around on B&H
and the only thing I saw that was close to what I need had a shoe mount, which I don't think would work with my mic.

I have a boom-pole but sometimes it's just inconvenient, or there is no one to hold it.

Thank you :)

If this is for an interview or something similar where the subject stays still, you'll get better sound with it on a mic stand than attached to the camera.

I have a Canon 900 Camcorder. I use a Shure microphone, and I find the microphone fits VERY neatly into the hand strap on the side as an impromptu attachment. Don't know if you're has a handstrap, but that might be an idea.

If you cannot get someone to hold a boom..I suggest a Lav mic solution, either a good UHF wireless setup $600 or use a digital audio recorder.. $50 Olympus VN-8100PC or a $100 Zoom H1 on your talent. MUCH better than a mic on the cam. When you get over 3 feet away, the background noise is too high and you will have poor dialog capture. Bottom line, you want a mic withing 1 foot of the speakers mouth and closer if you can get it.

Below is some RAW footage with the dialog taken on a LOUD city street using a Lav & the Olympus VN-8100PC.

The dialog starts at 1:30 ..ROUGH footage unedited..just playing w/ it.

With this, you can mount your mic on a tripod. I use this adapter to mount my VideoMic on a monopod, which acts as a pretty great boom mic.

Too bad you don't have anyone to hold it, though, since you should always try to get the mic as close as possible.

Also, there's this:

thanks for the link on that mic stand, that's a pretty great deal.

I think I'm going to buy a cheap bracket and attach the microphone to that, but I definitely going to look into getting a stand. Thanks everyone :)
