Applying For Work

I really need a second job.

I'm hoping I stand a chance at getting a job in the video editing department at a television studio in my area. I don't have studio experience. But, I'm willing to try for entry level work as an assistant editor.

I have actual experience on indie productions with Final Cut, Adobe Premiere, AVID, and Sony Vegas. I know both Mac and PC platforms.

I don't think it will hurt to fill out applications in the HR of the TV studios.

I'm sending in resumes and filling out applications.

The 2 editing programs that are being used in the industry are AVID and Final Cut Pro.

So far, no calls or emails for interviews. I'm even trying out for imaging technician work.

Fingers crossed.

Join the ranks. No experience necessary.

Check out craigslist in your area for people needing an editor. They usually don't pay a lot, but it's a good way to build a professional resume as an editor.

Today, I spent 8 hours tearing tickets at my local theater... do what you have to to pay the bills, don't be picky when you get to that point... keep looking, but enter the minimum wage market proudly... there's too many skilled people unemployed currently to worry about such things.

If you can then find a better job... take that.
