Any instructions on making sugar glass that are more specific?

Everytime I make it I mis-estimate, and the sheets come out, either too thick or too thin. I can't estimate just write, cause every recipe is different and it's hard to know for the size of the window I need specifically, how much will do it. I will look more online and see.

How long does it last though. It seems I have a couple of days, but because of the way the next, shoot is scheduled, I will have to make it at least two days in advance, if that's not too long.

make a form that is the correct size for the window you will be using, line the bottom with a sheet of metal so it'll be smooth (wax paper around the sides so it'll release)... Then make a bunch and pour until it's the right thickness?

Film Riot over at revision3 has an episode from a while back on this I think... or was it backyard fX?

Okay thanks. Everytime I make the glass also, it comes out golden instead of clear, even though I don't allow it to raise a higher temperature, than what is suggested. Hopefully those links will be better, or I will do better. Change of plans, I now have to make the glass four days in advance before the shoot, starting today. Should I refrigerate till the shoot, or would freezing work better? Freezing would probably make them too frosty.

No I'm not using ice, I was wondering if the sugar glass can be frozen? Or should I refrigerate to preserve it for four days? Here';s my problem. Every video says to wait till the temperature reaches 300, but every time I've made it 300 means nothing. Sometimes it's overdone, long before it reaches 300, and other times it's the obvious. How do I tell if it's done, just be looking, and not using a thermometer?
