Hi friends i was talking to a senior guy of www.indietalk.com and he told me about " flat buyouts of rights"
i wanted to know any one of you tried flat buyouts of rights ? and does that really happen for filmmakers who are new to the filmmaking? though i know the revenue will be low but i am not concerened with it .My only concern is " flat buyouts of rights "
If you don't want to take a flat buyout then don't. There is no reason
at all that you can't try for another deal that is better for you. For me,
I would rather take a flat fee up front than a percentage deal.
The deal made depend more on the film itself and the distributor than
if the filmmaker is new or not.
I'm curious - what senior guy of www.indietalk.com told you about
"flat buyouts of rights"?
. it is better to get low % of money but getting it in advance.
well make a guess who told me about this thing? [] i contacted him via email of indietalk.com and he told me that selling in other countries is hard because distributors or sales agent might show wrong figures of DVD sales.
actually i asked him that suppose if i have sold my movie todistributor and he selld 1000 dvds of my movie but tells me that only few are sold so i will be cheated so what should i do?i cant hire alawer or an accountant for rechecking , so he told me that the better way is to take money in advance even if the % is low.........
