Anamorphic Question for DSLR users

Hey people, currently using a canon t4i
Wondering how can i get results like this on a DSLR ? with the top and bottom black tape

it´s just the lens or there´s a setup in the camera?

You can achieve that some how in post using AE. As to settings on a camera, I'm unsure.

yes.. i dont know if in those sample videos the purpose was to extend the field of view of what.. but i like the cinematic style and would like to add it on my project.

There was a thread about letterbox already. Anamorphic is completely different thing.

Anamorphic lenses stretch the image vertically. In post, the image is squeezed down, so that image looks normal.

But anamorphic lenses are expensive, so you have to find other ways to pull it off cheaper.
