Aluminum foil to reflect light

I have a scene in an unfinished basement in which I have the option of using a foam panel or aluminum insulation to give it the right appearance.

I was curious if I should go the aluminum route to take advantage of the fact that it will reflect light or if it is somehow a disadvantage as perhaps it will reflect the light source, camera, etc. It will be used as a direct background for some of the scene with the camera facing towards it.

Would love to hear some input. Also what lens filter would be appropriate to deal with any unwanted reflection

I think reflection of the camera would only be an issue if you have a lot of movement where the angle of the shot is directly perpendicular to the foil. Use the matte side of the foil just to be sure. Make sure the foil doesn't affect your light in a way that causes a pattern. You'll get a reflection of the light if you use foil. Pretty much unavoidable unless your shots are all locked down and directed away from angles that cause a reflection of hard light

It's worth a test shoot before you get on set to find out it doesn't work.

And you could return insulation back to HD if undamaged, after a failed test.

Find what works.
