Alternatives to Sony Vegas..?

I'm getting so many crash issues in damn Sony Vegas 9.. If it's not clips turning green or red, random crashes, it's rendering crashes... Whats the next pro-sumer level of editing software that people generally like for PC.

Thanks!

If you're looking for similarly-priced software, Adobe Elements is worth looking at. Premiere Elements & Photoshop Elements are $99 apiece, or available bundled together for $149

Btw, is your Vegas crashing when editing DSLR footage? A buddy of mine had a huge issue with that, that I solved by converting all his footage into something more palatable for it.

Yeah, dslr.. Canon t3i footage, but I had similar problems with Sanyo footage a while back. The product is just not robust enout in my experience. Any project more than a few minutes, and god forbid, color correction is prone to problems.. This is my 4th time debugging issues, and finding workarounds, so it's time to move along.

thanks for the tips, moving to Premiere Elements..

Be sure to download the free trial from the Adobe website before purchasing, just in case it doesn't solve your issue. If your having issues with plain ol' footage, the NLE might not be the problem at all.

Downloaded a trail of Premier Elements and started some tests. Most was going well, until the audio got choppy.. and since this is a music vid, I'm sad.. hahah. Kinda found a workaround for Sony vegas, so for now that's what I have to resort to.

Here are comp specs:

Windows 7
Dell xps8300- 2mos old
NVIDIA GeForce GT 420
i7 core 3.4ghz
8gig ram
1.5tb c drive

Drivers up to date.

Could be hardware or my workflow.. not sure how to debug. Basically I am drag and dropping 25 or more Canon T3i files into vegas. They are possibly 16 to 45 gigs in files, depending on the project. All the files are highest quality possible at 24p.
