editing A microphone to record narration? Which one?

What I need is the ability to record sound via a microphone, directly into my PC via Soundbooth. Just got CS5. This microphone looks to be complicated as far as that goes. I am so far unable to tell what cables and adapters I would need to buy to connect it to my computer.

I've got two shorts right now where I need to do some narrative recording. My budget is micro thin. I really want to spend $50 to $60 if I can get away with it. Any recommendations?

$100 is really the maximum I can spend on everything. Microphone, cable, pop guard.

Anyone in NYC want to let me borrow their microphone?

A fair micro-budget mic, but how do you get it into your PC? You would still need phantom power and then convert that into something your PC could use.

One of the nicer micro-budget mics out there is the Snowball from Blue (Blue makes some really nice mics). For under $70 it sounds okay, has its own little stand and plugs directly into USB - it even comes in white, black and aluminum!

The Audio-Technica AT2020USB has a decent rep, but I've never used one. You'll need to get a stand for it, however.

Unless you can find someone willing to part with stuff cheap second hand you will be hard pressed to find anything of remotely good quality with a total budget of $100. You really need a good condensor mic as well as a preamp with phantom power to do any serious voice recording. MY advice in a case like that would be to hire a mic and preamp ( or mixer) for the project and save up for something of reasonable quality further down the track.
