A Little Moral Booster.

A Little Morale Booster.

I'm certain many of you would agree that writing & prepping a feature can be a lonely row to hoe. I've had plenty of ups and downs; sometimes confident I can do this; sometimes certain I'm insane for even trying.

My morale soared this week when we were informed by our script consultant that, out of the 300+ scripts he's covered this year, ours made his Top 10 list for 2012. This honor was not only unexpected, it was also a much needed shot in the arm.

I work with a co-writer, and we've been reaching out to any and all the experts we know who might help guide us through this journey. I can't imagine how some of you do it by yourselves. I'd like to show my respect to all you one-man-bands out there - Keep it up!

Good for you!!!

BTW, I think that you mean MORALE.

mo·rale [muh-ral]
noun
emotional or mental condition with respect to cheerfulness, confidence, zeal, etc., especially in the face of opposition, hardship, etc.: the morale of the troops.

mor·al [mawr-uh l, mor-]
adjective
1. of, pertaining to, or concerned with the principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction between right and wrong; ethical: moral attitudes.
2. expressing or conveying truths or counsel as to right conduct, as a speaker or a literary work; moralizing: a moral novel.
3. founded on the fundamental principles of right conduct rather than on legalities, enactment, or custom: moral obligations.
4. capable of conforming to the rules of right conduct: a moral being.
5. conforming to the rules of right conduct ( opposed to immoral ): a moral man.

This is not an accomplishment. It's more like a buoy indicating that we set a course, executed, and did a few things right along the way. NOTE: our 'course' was in no specific direction and we did not travel in a straight line. As a result, we're just as lost as the next adventurer ;)

I've taken so much from IndieTalk, I want to share this story hoping to spread some fraternal motivation on the forum.

Keep going.

It's a neo-noir detective thriller.

Although I work in the VFX industry, I wanted to avoid drawing upon those resources. That said ... I'll need many VFX elements to add production value, and create shots that would otherwise cost me real money.

Go figure.
