cinematography 3D Macro?

Hello

Does anyone know if it is somehow possible to shoot 3D video in macro. My initial thought is that you couldn't get the two lens close enough to get the right effect.

Is there a way of doing it?

With a rig designed to put the cameras at 90 deg to each other you could set the inter-ocular distance to be as small as you needed. I suspect though that there are other limitations, but perhaps not.

Maybe with IO distance so small, convergence becomes problematic?

Loreo makes a macro 3D lens-in-a-cap. A friend of mine just did a short with one of these.

It splits the image across the lens, but he shot it on a RED with a Nikon mount so it still came out 1080.
