35mm adapters going to flood the market ?

Anyone but me expecting to see a flood of 35mm adapters on the market next year?

Seems the DSLR options just make buying a $2500 adapater rig (high end ) pointless. For the same money you ALSO get a kick butt camera....

On the cam stuff, Id think the h.264 comp thing was more of a nod to the expected consumer.. mostly movies as a side effect and easy to upload \ play on PC. But heck, its probably a mix of factors driving that decision..

DIY, seems there are MANY options, designs for free etc, but the designs to an established product, thats pretty cool..

Correct me if I'm wrong but my D90 is encoding in MPEG (motion Jpeg) in an avi wrapper. So I'm not sure if the h.264 is the same for everyone.

You're correct. I was talking specifically about the canon line-up, I don't know much about the nikon offerings.

The Nikon D90 shoots HD Video (1280x760) at 24 fps in an AVI Motion-JPEG Codec

According to this page:

Not really sure what "AVI Motion-JPEG Codec" means.

I still want one since I don't have a dslr for photos anyway, which is why I've been nerding out on the technicals a bit. :D Of course affording gear is another story entirely.

I have a canon HV40 ($650 form B&H) and I bought an adapter from this company called twoneil ($350)
I use old nikon primes from an old nikorrmat that I have. I am so pleased with the results. I have shot with the 7d, and I love my little setup so much more. It feels more like film rather than that cold digital HD look.
Downside is the consumer cameras you really have to kind of cheat them. You don't have full manual of control of gain, iris, and shutter speed. BUT you can trick the camera by adjusting certain things for every shot.
And everything you shoot is upside down, which definitely takes some getting used to, I'd definitely recommend a nice HD monitor that lets you flip the image...and for focus

Heres some examples of things I've shot on it. Keep in mind lots of color correction went into this.
(yes there is some shakiness on the first one, this was the first thing I shot when I got the setup, shot in couple of hours and I was too lazy to crop out the borders on the side from the adapter)

and a trailer for my most recent short.

I'll keep my 35mm adapter for now.
