Captured video footage looks worse than in camera

To test out my theory of problems when capturing in computer, I use my old sony camera that is not a HdV and the footage wasn't taken in HDV and still the picture playing from the tape to the TV as well as through the little LCD monitor on the camera is better than what is showing on the...

Captured video footage looks worse than in camera

Yes, it is set to down-convert to output...but still I don't it shouldn't be that much of a difference though. When it is playing directly to the TV, is it still down-convert you think? The picture looks much better on the TV than pass through my computer and play on the TV as a DVD.

Captured video footage looks worse than in camera

You mention about metering, what type of meter is mostly use in this case? I have also seen some film that, I think, have a fake moon with fake skies...meaning...

24p vs. 30p and strobing issues

Many thanks for both of your responses. I will give that article some reading. So the answer seems to be that don't shoot in the cineframe 24p but instead shoot in 60i and if I ever wanted to convert to 24p, it is possible with software conversion and still have the same effect as a true 24p...

24p vs. 30p and strobing issues

I have a Sony HVR-Z1U and shoot some footage in HDV format with 24p. I capture the footage into Avid Xpress Pro HD with down convert from the Sony camera. Then export from Avid as Quicktime Reference and convert the file in ProCoder into .m2v format and use Adobe Encore to author the DVD. The...
